Swaziland
Reaching out to a land ravaged by HIV/AIDS

The vision of the Swaziland staff is to focus in on one community at a time and invest in their future. Through building relationships that give the opportunity to share the reality of Christ and raise up disciples, as well as meeting the felt needs of the community, we hope to make this vision a reality. With the overwhelming needs that come as a result of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, we are constantly seeking God as to how to be His hands and feet to His people. There is a large need for improved care for orphans/vulnerable children, schools, and churches.

It is the desire of staff members in Swaziland to meet these needs within the community. The intent of the ministry initiatives is to allow the Swazi people to step up into leadership within the various ministries. The goal is for things to be Swazi run and initiated, so as to create self-sustaining ministries.

The Orphan Crisis

The orphan population is overwhelming. HIV/AIDS is tearing through the middle generation (ages 18-30) and wiping out the parents of children. These orphaned children are left to fend for themselves, and many times the eldest sibling becomes the parental figure in the household. The family and the local community are highly regarded institutions in Swaziland, but as HIV/AIDS devastates families, these establishments are crumbling. Grandparents who had expected to be taken care of in their old age find themselves raising another generation of children.

Your Gift Makes a Difference

Through your gifts, you bring hope to a land that is in desperate need. Your gifts are used to develop care points to feed the orphans and to support programs and communities and help break the cycle of HIV/AIDS.

Experience the Vision for Swaziland

Have you ever wanted to experience a mission trip but you don’t know where to begin? Then you should join us on one of our Vision Trips to Swaziland this year. A Vision Trip is a powerful opportunity to spread the kingdom of God and learn about what AIM is doing in the world by becoming an advocate for change in a community overseas.

Tne next AIM Vision Trip to Swaziland is scheduled for October 2nd, 2010 through October 11th, 2010. This "Three Star" trip has more comfortable lodging than what you would find on a typical mission trip as well as restaurant style meals.

What Are Care Points?

A Care Point is a community based outreach center creating a safe place where children can come for food, discipleship, basic education, simple first aid, and overall nurturing. AIM serves 23 Care Points and 3000 children every day. Young children often walk miles to get to their only meal for the day. Through regular discipleship we are imparting a hope for today and for eternity. As children learn of their value in God’s Kingdom they are empowered to see themselves as the future answers to the needs in their own countries.
